With Linkin Park opening the Toyko leg of this massive World Wide event! Details are emerging about how music fans can take in the massive amount of global star power planned for Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis on July 7.
Broadcast and cable television outlets, including NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Telemundo, Bravo and Sundance, will provide varying amounts of coverage of the 24-hour, seven-continent event.
Satellite-radio services, XM and Sirius, plan extensive broadcasts. XM is encouraging listeners to register for a free three-day trial (at xmradio.com/liveearth) to take in the concerts, scheduled in New York, London and Tokyo, as well as in Brazil, Germany, China, South Africa, Australia and Turkey. Also satellite providers Worldspace satellite radio, Premiere satellite radio, and Radio Express will be broadcasting this event aswell.
Organizers of the event, which aims to inspire action to head off global warming, hope to attract 2 billion viewers worldwide.

Linkin Park will be on Austrian music station, Go TV in a show called Hosted by.. on July 1 at 11 am, the band will be presenting their favourite videos.

The Live Earth concert series will begin in Sydney, Australia and continue across all seven continents with official concerts in Tokyo, Japan; Shanghai, China; Johannesburg, South Africa; London, United Kingdom; Hamburg, Germany; Istanbul, Turkey; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, before concluding at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
XM’s live coverage will begin at 9 p.m. ET on Friday, July 6, on XM’s main Live Earth channel, “Live Earth All Access” (XM channel 40). “Live Earth All Access” will feature around-the-clock coverage with highlights of the most memorable performances, backstage interviews and more, throughout the day. In addition, each city’s concert will be broadcast live in its entirety.

Launch Radio Networks reports, Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington has put his solo plans aside for the moment to focus on his main band. Reports that Bennington was working on an album of his own first surfaced nearly two years ago, with the singer later telling MTV.com that he had up to three separate projects on tap. But Bennington told Launch that while he did start work on at least one side venture, he’s put it on the back burner for now. “I was actually pretty deep into recording my other project, called Dead By Sunrise, and we were really far into the record,” he said. “And then, you know, LP got together and we all decided that we wanted to make a record and start as soon as possible. So Linkin Park takes the lead, you know what I mean? So I stopped working on the record and I’ll be finishing it up while we’re touring over these next couple of years, and it’ll be ready to go out.”

MTV and Time Warner Cable are giving unsigned Los Angeles-area bands the chance to compete for the opening slot at the July 28th stop of the Projekt Revolution 2007′ tour in San Bernardino, California.

Here’s how it works:
LA-area bands can register at MTV.com from June 15th-28th.
Fans can vote online for their favorite contestant from June 29th - July 11th.
The top 15 bands make it to the next round, where an expert panel of judges will choose their top 5.
The top 5 bands will play a short set at the Projekt Revolution Kick-Off party at the Roxy in LA on July 18.
Another panel of experts, including members of Linkin Park, will choose their favorite on the spot.
The winner will perform as openers at the Hyundai Pavilion in San Bernardino on July 28th.

Friday, June 15 at the Heineken Jammin’ Festival in Italy, but due to a violent storm several light towers were brought down injuring a number of fans at the festival, fortunately there were no fatalities. Linkin Park were not able to perform due to the immediate cancellation of the show. LP have issued the following statement: “We are saddened by the events that happened in Venice today and our hearts are with the injured fans and their families. The Linkin Park family wishes them a speedy recovery and hope to see them the next time we visit Italy.”

The Ningyo Project from Super Rad Toys blends the traditional Japanese Gosho Dolls with the contemporary graphic expression of popular culture. The upcoming rotocast vinyl Gosho figure stands 10″ tall and will be released in a traditional version as well as several designer editions including figures by Joe Hahn and many more.
Envisioned as an art project each figure will be limited to 500 pieces and retail for $80.
In addition to the designer editions, Super Rad Toys is working with artists to have them create one-off art originals on the Gosho vinyl canvas. Plans are in the works for a Gosho tour starting with an LA exhibition. In addition, in a collaboration with a South African Tribal Art Group, several female artists will create hand-painted Gosho vinyl art pieces which will then be auctioned off by Christie’s with all the proceeds going back to the group.
With ONLY 500 made, I hope the collector in all of us gets a chance to snag one. They came out in May. We better get to looking for them! Who would have thought!
